Prime Minister Sali Berisha sent a message of congratulations to the President of the USA Barack Obama on occasion of the Independence Day - the 236th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.
PM Berisha writes the following in his message:
“Dear Mr. President,
It is a special honor and pleasure that on occasion of July 4, the marked Day of Independence of the United States of America, the great and strategic friend of Albania and the Albanian nation, to convey to you on behalf of the government of Albania and all the citizens of my country the friendly greetings and best and warmest wishes for further glory of your great country and nation, a leading country and symbol of freedom and democracy for all the free peoples worldwide.
The Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776 is not only the most marked event in the history of the great American nation, but also one of the most important stations in the journey of our civilization and the highest value of the human society, freedom. Never before any other document of such importance has sanctioned so solemnly the sublime truths of mankind: the right to life, freedom, equality and respect for private life, an obligation of the state of being dedicated to them and guarantee, the Constitution of the USA.
On the current year we celebrate the 100-th anniversary of Albania Independence as a free nation, a North Atlantic Alliance member that builds democracy based on market values and that makes a contribution to peace and stability in our region, but even in other regions of the world.
In all the historical achievements of my nation, the priceless support, the great contribution and the great help of the USA, worked out and fully based on the values of freedom, has been a decisive factor. Hence, I take this opportunity of expressing grateful thanks for all help and U.S. support. Likewise, I would like to re-affirm the determination and commitment of the government of Albania to develop further in the future this close and successful partnership between the two countries and nations in their benefit and in the best interest of peace and friendship in the world.
I would like to express the wish of welcoming you to Albania as a great friend of the Albanians who joins celebration of our historical jubilee.
With assurances of the highest consideration,
